Wonderful site. I attend a weekly applique' group called the Apple K'ers, with ladies ranging from a young mom with 4 little ones, to seniors. We all prefer hand applique' so meeting each week helps us to get lots done. Personally, I love to do pictoral portraits having taken a five day course with Charlotte Warr Anderson. Really improved my outlook after that course. Need to have some chapters set up here in Western Canada.

Terrific site. I have been doing applique for many years. I used to be a professional seamstress who specialized in traditional tailoring so Applique is my definate outlet. I only do hand applique as well as Hand quilting. I have found that needleturn both reverse and onlayed is my solace. One thing I haven't tried is Mola and that will be my next challenge. I am going to become a member of your Society and hopefully through you I will learn even more. Because I live in Rural Ontario Canada, your chapters are few and far between. There is one in Oakville but that is too far for me to travel. Unfortunately in this neck of the woods, I'm know amongst quilters as the "Crazy Person" who spends up to 1 yr. to complete a quilt! Their loss! Keep up the good work and happy stitching. Kathleen Armour in Canada

One day in the early 90's, I read an ad in the local Whidbey Island, Washington newspaper, inviting me to come for "tea and traditional quilting". I couldn't resist calling the number, and was soon enrolled in a group which met one afternoon a week at Anita Smith's home, and I renewed my interest in applique, and learned new techniques while being gently encouraged by Anita. I moved away from the Island the summer The Applique Society was being formed, but I am a Charter Member, and I attend the Whatcom County TAS Chapter which meets monthly in Ferndale, Washington. Last January and February, I was in Arizona, and attended two TAS meetings in Mesa, where I felt very welcome. While traveling, I think it is a wonderful idea to seek out the local Chapters. It is almost like a reunion! Thanks, Anita, for getting it all started!

Thank you for the sneak peek at your newsletter. I went to the Sisters Quilt Show yesterday and met an old friend there who told me about the society. I've only been quilting for five years but have sewed for thirty. I said I'd never applique. Never say never.... I fell in love with it and haven't stopped yet. This week is our quilt guild meeting and I'm taking your newsletterto show our guild. I'd love to get a chapter going in Eastern Oregon.

I always enjoy this wonderful website especialy since I found this web on Feb. 9th. At that time I wrote " from Japan " then this Comment's page made Country name. I was very glad to find it.Because I thought of this international wonderful aplique world web, and feel so close all of you as an aplique quilter. The best wonderful thing for me was to recieve e-mail from Bunny Leighton who is the designer " THE SISTERHOOD ". It was like a dream ! This page gave me not only " TAS " but also a wonderful relationship. Thank you so much ! I will bring my small quilt " Sisterhood " to our quilt show ( from July 17th ~ Sep. )at The LaConner Quilt Museum in LaConner near Seattle Wa. I'm sorry it's not advertisement. only please let me tell about it. We will join the only one day Quilt Festival " SISTERS " all over the Sisters town in Ore. U.S.A on July 13th, too. This my dream started from meeting the design " The SISTERHOOD ". Masako Masuda

The web page and information you have provided is very nice. I was one of those people in the beginning steering committee who worked on putting things together, helped with the mission statement and one of the very first newsletters to go out. I am sad to say, I have been very ill for 2&1/2 years and have been out of the loop. I want to join again and begin or be a part of a chapter. Thanks for a well-designed and informative web page. I was navigating last night and got so excited when I found out TAS. This morning I was very anxious because I would like to seat and see the site again. So far, I saw few things but already know there is a lot here I can learn. Quilting is a passion for me. Applique is what I would like to do and I WILL success, I'm sure of it. Even I'm just a beginner (still reading about quilting) can't wait the time I'm going to seat and put hands on!!!!!! This site will help me to get there!!!!!!!

I have been sewing for years, but it was making clothes and drapes, mending, etc. This site has stirred my curosity. It makes me want to branch out and try something new. I'm looking forward to possibly attending the Columbus meeting. Susan Willard Orlando, FL
