Newsletter

Every two months we publish our 24-page newsletter. It is packed full of interviews with some of appliqué’s best and brightest, tips & hints, book reviews and patterns. Each newsletter contains a minimum of two patterns.  At the current cost of patterns it will only take you a couple of issues to save your membership fees in pattern purchases! We believe our newsletter gives you great value for the money and it the best way to stay informed on what’s happening in the world of Appliqué.  Become a member and start receiving your newsletters today!

You can find a  "sneak peek" at one of our recent newsletters by scrolling to the bottom of this page and clicking on the “Download our Newsletter Sneak Peek” link.  For further information about the newsletter, just drop Patti a note!

The most exciting news about our newsletter is that over this past year we have started posting the newsletter and patterns on line in full color. To access the on-line newsletter you must be a member in good standing of TAS. The newsletter can be found on the TAS website in the “Members Only” area. Our members now have the option of receiving their newsletter in hard copy format via the USPS or they can view and download the color electronic version on-line. Many of our members still opt to receive their newsletter in the mail but they love viewing the “color” version on-line.

In our newsletter you will always find interviews with new rising stars of Appliqué as well as well-established stitchers and teachers.  These generous appliqué artists are always willing to share their knowledge and their love of appliqué with our members.

Kathy Kansier  specializes in hand and machine appliqué, crazy quilts and edge treatments and is an AQS Certified Appraiser and TAS member. She also writes a regular column for the newsletter called “Quilts Up Close…”

Bobbie Ashley shares appliqué tutorials as well as a regular column in the newsletter called “Stitch to The Point” and features embroidery lessons.

On the lighter side, TAS member Donna-Mae Baldwin’s column “Mystic Musings” captures the spirit of quilting in rhyme.

We are so lucky to have talented pattern designers included in our membership ranks. These members donate their patterns to be used in the newsletter. Each designer is profiled in the newsletter along with her pattern when the pattern is published. It is most enjoyable to get to know these ladies and a little bit of the history behind their pattern design.

Speaking of our talented members, we are always pleased when we have the opportunity to share the newest book published by our members.

TAS also has Chapters throughout the US and Canada and around the world. Our “Chapter News” area allows all our members to enjoy photos and articles on the activities of our Chapters.

Reviews are one of our most popular features. Here you will find the “Let’s Go Shopping” column which features tools, fabric and other items of interest for the appliqué. There are also at least 4 or 5 new books reviewed per issue.

We invite you to take a sneak peek at our newsletter!

You will find a copy of one of our recent newsletters below. If you like what you see and would like to become a member of The Appliqué Society®(TAS), you will find a membership form inside the newsletter or on-line at  Become a Member
